Abstract
:
Snakebite and scorpion sting constitute a medical emergency that should be treated vigorously and promptly. First aid measures at the location where the bite ttok place should be applied. This include application of a broad firm bandage to cover the biten area, immobilization of the patient and his transfer to the neaest medical treatment facility. tf there is evidence of systemic envenomation then prompt administration of an appropriate antivenin in sufficient quantity is made. Severe cases of envenomation must he treated in an intensive care unit for constant clinical evaluation monitoring of vital functions and treatment of symptomatic measures.
