Abstract
:
The study's problem focuses on that the performance appraisal is one of the important administrative processes. But, it faces many of obstacles including the interference of personal relations, and the unsuitability of assessment criteria that affect upon its effectiveness, objectiveness and employees performance. The organizational Commitment's importance stems from the fact that it acts as one of the job performance's limitations and its strong link to behaviors as the morale, job satisfaction and work commitment. Both the organizational commitment and performance appraisal play a crucial role in increasing the organizations' effectiveness. So, this study aims at exploring the relationship between the effectiveness and objectiveness of the applied performance appraisal system and the employees' organization commitment with all its affective, normative, and continuance dimensions. The study tends to achieve many objectives headed by the goal of exploring the degree of the effectiveness and objectiveness of the applied performance appraisal system and the organizational commitment with its triple dimensions, plus the relation between the two elements. The study also reclines on some hypothesis the most important one is the absence of statistical relationship for the effectiveness and objectiveness of the performance appraisal upon the organizational commitment. The researcher utilizes the descriptive and analytical method as it suits the nature of the study's topic. The study is applied upon Saudi Arabian Airlines employees in the divisions of Human Resources, IT Management, Booking Department and Tickets Department in Jeddah showcasing a model of a pioneering organization. Samples of the study reach 541 persons. One of the most important findings introduced by the study is that the level of the effectiveness of the applied performance appraisal is relatively high while the level of the system's objectiveness is medium. The organizational commitment as a whole is in a medium level, the continuance commitment scores the first level then the affective commitment and the normative commitment. There is a significant correlation with statistical significance between the effectiveness and objectiveness of the performance appraisal and the organizational commitment with its three dimensions; it is a medium direct relationship. The study's recommendations asks for more efforts to increase the effectiveness and objectiveness of the performance appraisal, consolidate the concept of the organizational commitment in the manager and the employee and boost the environment that can support the organizational commitment.
