Abstract
:
The complete investigation of the prompt gamma-ray spectra due to thermal neutron capture in the nuclei of the constituent elements of Saudi-petroleum ore sample was the main task of this work. The Am/Be neutron source and hyper pure germanium detector system with its associated personal computer has been applied on two ore samples (the light and heavy oils). A qualitative analysis for both samples was given 503 and 502 prompt gamma-ray lines, this were due to 41 elements in case of light oil and 43 elements in case of the heavy oil. The concentration percentage values of 21 and 22 elements in the light and heavy ore samples respectively could be estimated .The results are compared with the data obtained for the similar international ore values.
